Preserving Stories That Shaped Civilizations

Every fortress tells a story of power, survival, beauty, and belief. Some mark the rise of kingdoms. Others hold the memory of conflict, devotion, or cultural transformation. The Castle Hunt exists to preserve these stories one castle, one landscape, one legacy at a time.

From childhood curiosity to lifelong mission, Castle Hunting maps the monuments that shaped our world. Each entry is a doorway: to history, to heritage, to the wonder of standing where empires once stood.

Our Journey

From Curiosity to Castle Hunt

Foundation

What began with two castles Edinburgh's ancient fortress and Chambord's Renaissance masterpiece studied in encyclopedias and documentaries as a curious child, has grown into a living archive of over 60 fortifications spanning six continents. Castle Hunting started as a personal passion for understanding how architecture tells the story of empires, cultures, and the human need for both beauty and defense. Walking through the Door of Return at Cape Coast Castle in Ghana transformed this from academic interest into urgent mission: these structures hold memories that must not be forgotten. Today, the Atlas serves as both historical record and invitation — a digital space where Sites of Memory stand alongside Royal Residences, where Ancestral Sites connect diaspora to heritage, and where anyone can trace the threads of civilization through stone and story.

Future Goals

The work continues: visiting sites in person, deepening the archive, and finding ways to share these stories beyond the screen whether through print, classrooms, or broader audiences who believe history lives in stone.
